What is a passing grade in UM Dearborn? ›

Undergraduates must achieve a required 2.0 cumulative UM-Dearborn GPA. Students must complete academic program within 150% of published length of program. Graduate students must complete 67% of attempted courses. Graduate students must maintain 3.0 CGPA or higher if required by your academic unit.

Grades A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D+, D, D- indicate passing grades; F indicates failure.

The grades of A, B, C, D and P are passing grades. Grades of F and U are failing grades. R and I are interim grades. Grades of W and X are final grades carrying no credit.

After grades are submitted, the Registrar's Office translates P/F grades as follows: A+ through C- = Pass (P) D+ through E = Fail (F)

You'll usually need to receive a letter grade between A and D to pass a class, often the numerical equivalent of 65 percent or higher. Receiving an F—which stands for “fail”—indicates that you did not pass the class.

U.S. Letter Grading System: The standard grading system in the U.S. uses letters A to F, with A being the highest (90-100%) and D being the lowest passing grade (60-69%).

One B won't ruin your GPA if it's weighted. Weighted GPA takes into account on the difficulty of the classes you take.

Grade Value–The numerical value assigned to a grade: A+ = 4 points, A = 4 points, A- = 3.7 points, B+ = 3.3 points, B = 3 points, B- = 2.7 points, C+ = 2.3 points, C = 2 points, *C- = 1.7, D+ = 1.3 points, D = 1 point, D- = . 7 points and F = 0 points.

B+, B, B- indicates good performance. C+, C, C- indicates satisfactory performance. D+, D, D- indicates less than satisfactory performance. F indicates unsatisfactory performance (no credit: always include last date of attendance).

Someone could graduate with some 'D' grades, as long as there were enough A's and B's to keep the GPA above water. So if a destination school takes transfers on a course-by-course basis, D grades don't count, but if they take the degree as a block, D's do count.

Can you pass with a D in college? ›
